THE SITUATION

Blue Beyond Consulting has partnered with Juniper Networks for over 17 years on various initiatives, including culture activation and people leader training and development. Five years ago, Juniper approached us to build out their performance management program and conceptualize a new approach to leadership development and training. In response to employee feedback about a need for more specific and constructive feedback approaches from managers, this initiative aimed to embed Juniper’s core values — Be Bold, Build Trust, and Deliver Excellence — into its performance management approach.

WHAT WE DID

Blue Beyond Consulting tailored our services to meet evolving leadership and HR needs across the organization, and provided a phased approach to our work. Collaboratively, we updated and expanded Juniper’s manager development program and introduced supportive and strategic HR initiatives, including:

 

  • Revamping the existing manager training program and aligning it with contemporary leadership practices.
  • Introducing the Best Boss™ manager onboarding program which enhanced the skills of over 700+ Juniper people managers to date.
  • Enabling launch and ongoing engagement with an internal talent marketplace — Junivator Career Connect — to offer dynamic career development and transparent access to opportunities and resources.
  • Supporting the launch of “HR Central” to streamline and automate onboarding and offboarding, with the goal of improving operational efficiency and enhancing the employee experience at critical HR touchpoints.
  • Conducting quarterly manager training on topics including, radical candor, leading through change, and managing remotely for 1500+ managers, including Juniper leaders at all levels.
  • Developed robust enablement materials to support leader engagement with the annual employee engagement survey.
