Employee Appreciation Day is Friday, March 2. But don’t worry – there’s still time to do a little something extra to show your employees and coworkers just how valued they really are!
One of our most basic needs as people is to be seen, known, and valued. Taking time to remind team members that you appreciate them for who they are – not just what they do – goes a long way toward creating a healthy workplace culture. One quick and easy way to share appreciation for each other is by creating individual and team word clouds. Word clouds let team members share the positive attributes they appreciate about one another by thoughtfully choosing words that describe their presence. Consider what the person offers besides their ability to make a mean spreadsheet. Are they funny, warm, inspiring, strong? You may see them in ways that they’re not able to see themselves. Wouldn’t you love to receive a collection of words that let you know how your team sees you?
When we did this on our team, it was a great moment of affirmation and appreciation! And it also makes for a beautiful visual that can be shared with one another or displayed in the office.
